To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Zoo Time

When Spring began this year we took our annual trip to Riverbanks Zoo in beautiful Columbia.
We make it a day, grab a quick breakfast on the way, spend a few hours at the zoo, eat a late lunch/early dinner at California Dreaming and then walk around downtown Columbia before heading home. I say annual because it's something we do each year but in all honesty we visit the zoo at least twice a year. It's a quick drive and we love it.

I'm the slacker whose just now getting around to posting pictures...only five months late y'all.

So maybe not that big of a secret but I am deathly terrified of snakes. I mean cringe, crying, idiot like over a snake. If I see one, even a little green one, I immediately scream like a child, tears hit my eyes and I cannot get away fast enough, however, I am strangely fascinated with them. (if that makes any sense)

These two are so much alike when they eat. I am so blessed!

Our favorites...giraffes!

Cadence was hysterical about the picture below. She swore up and down the giraffe was sticking his tongue out at her. Hilarious!

This girl loves making wishes...
