To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Our Magical Vacation | Day 5

Day five was a busy day for us and we loved it! We started our day off at Animal Kingdom. If I haven't said this before, Disney is HUGE! You can do the same park 3 days in a row and still have something new to see each time, so we went to Animal Kingdom again and finished everything that we wanted to do and see.

We managed to finish every single attraction in Animal Kingdom. The park wasn't crowded, the wait times were low and I timed our fastpasses just right so it worked out in our favor. We even met King Louis, Baloo and Miss Bunny (Thumpers girlfriend in Bambi - a rare meet and greet character!). Tarl and I also rode Expedition Everest. He watched Cadence while I rode and vice versa. Miss Priss said she wasn't riding that one ;)

After lunch and a few more rides we went back to our resort and changed for dinner at Akershus (a Princess dinner) located in Epcot. The food is true Norwegian food. Although it was good, it was different and something we wouldn't do again for dinner. The character interaction was fantastic. Cadence loved seeing all of the princesses again and got to take pics with her most favorite princess upon arrival, Belle.

After dinner Cadence went from Aurora back into regular clothes and we closed Epcot. We rode more rides, including Test Track again, walked the world showcase and Cadence even picked her very own pearl in Japan!

The "pick a pearl" experience was amazing. It's located in Japan in Epcot's world showcase and it costs around $17. They have a tank filled with oysters and you pick your oyster and there is a pearl located in each one. Some pearls are small, some are black, some are pink, some oysters have two! Cadence picked out an oyster with a huge pearl inside! They have necklaces and an assortment of jewelry that you can purchase there and your pearl fits inside but you can find those same necklaces on Etsy for less than half the cost, so that's what we did! $40 verses $8 for a cinderella carriage necklace pearl holder - huge difference! I definitely recommend the experience though!

Our last Disney trip two years ago Tarl had this ice cream sandwich in the France pavilion and he has talked about it ever since so that was a must do on his list. Directly after dinner we high tailed it to Paris and he got himself his ice cream sandwich. They take this golden brioche bun and fill it your choice of ice cream inside and then your choice of either raspberry or chocolate drizzle, then they toast it in a brioche toaster and voila, a warm on the outside, cold on the inside ice cream sandwich. Needless to say, he was one happy man!

Cadence went with vanilla ice cream in a cone and I had a cripsy cinnamon cronut from Canada! Yum! With our snacks in hand we watched Illuminations, Epcot's fireworks show over their lagoon. It's beautiful!

Day 6 and 7 tomorrow!
