To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Welcome to the Lowcountry...

I was born and raised in the lowcountry.
I am your typical small town girl who always said they would "get out" but never did, and to be honest, it's one of God's unanswered prayers I am so blessed to have had.

I met my then boyfriend one summer when I was 15. He then became my high school sweetheart, and is now my husband. It's one of those great loves. I know this because we still make each other laugh after 10 years and share more happiness now than ever before.
I have a beautiful little girl who definitely makes our lives much more fun and interesting then we could have ever imagined!

None of this would have been a possibility had I left the lowcountry. To be honest...tourists come from thousands of miles to see our beautiful beaches, small town bakery's, quaint antique stores, and of course our Southern Charm, so why would I want to leave? Don't get me wrong! We have definitely discussed the idea of moving, but we always manage to get bounced right back into the swing of things here.

A little bit about me...

My name is Miranda. I once had a blog that was quite big. I had a lot of followers, I had a great career, and had my entire life in front of me. Then my mom on a Friday morning got rushed to the ER with breathing difficulties. Within one day, literally one day, she was on life support hanging on to her life. Between our small town support and prayers from here to Boston she pulled through. It took two months and she still has her bad days, but she is still here and breathing! Unfortunately she was one of those lovely Southern women who enjoyed a cigarette with her gossip and it caught up to her. She was diagnosed with severe COPD and emphysema. Within the two months I left my job to be home and tend to my mom. I loved the people I worked with, but it was a large company and they weren't supportive of too much time off, due to our families lack of finances we had to cut back, including our internet. (Hey you have to cut corners where you can!) So I deleted my blog and am here to start anew.

If you're wondering. I am now at a small town shop. That's the great thing about the Lowcountry, you always know someone and although it may not be some big multi-million dollar company as before, it gets the bills paid. I was blog feening after catching up with all my blogs from my super tiny iPhone screen after all these months, so I am working off of my sisters internet until we get ours back...which may be a while, but bear with me. I loved blogging. I shared my thoughts, feelings, and of course Pinterest inspirations with all. Not to mention, a huge support group.

I may not be back before then, but I wish that each of you reading this have a very Blessed and Merry Christmas, that is if we survive 12-21-12...but I don't believe in the Mayan calendar, do you?

To each his own I suppose.

I'm off to bake Christmas cookies and listen to Christmas music with the fam.
Great way to end the day...

Merry Christmas!
