To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Maybe it's just me, but it aggravates me those couples on FaceBook that tag each other in their status' or photos...we get it, you're married/dating/together/whatever...stop tagging, it's annoying! #PetPeeve

I went into the gas station this morning and there were these suckers logo'd with college football teams. Only in the South people. There were Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida...I asked the attendant where the Carolina ones were, he said they sold out first day. Go Gamecocks!

I got my hair cut this past Monday, just a health trim with no more than an inch or two cut off, however, I am the type of girl that if you take an inch off you might as well have cut off 4.

It looks and feels so short to me...but much needed and the split ends are gone.

Paula Deen made a mistake, 15 freakin years ago. Like a true Southern Christian woman, she didn't lie about it, she stated the truth and apologized for it. She could have easily fabricated the truth and none of this would have happened, but she didn't. That is an act of class on her part.

I love Paula, and think the scrutiny she is getting is ridiculous! I could compare things that other, more famous celebrities have said, that are in my personal opinion, far worse, but I won't linger on this subject, as it needs no more attention that it has already received.

Tory Burch Inspired Flats

So we all know and have grown to love Tory Burch flats.
I believe I have seen girls wearing them on just about every fashion blog I read.

Truth is, I don't have that kind of money to spend $200 on a pair of shoes, and if I am spending that kind of money, it's going to be on a pair of heels!

Alas...

...and Camel - which I'm loving for Summer! {via}

You can get these lovelies for the low price of $26.00, and although I'm not a fashionista, I don't think many people could tell the difference...just sayin!

WILW {hairbows}

I am head over heels for this hairbow trend, even for grown women. I just love the way it looks, and it screams Southern...here are some of my favorite!

Summer Reading List {and Reviews}

Highlighted are books I have not yet read.

Emily Giffin

Where We Belong
Heart of the Matter
Love the One You're With
Something Borrowed
Something Blue
Baby Proof

Heart of the Matter

Although the story line has been played out before in other books, I was still intrigued and it was definitely a page turner (one you didn't want to put down).

Love the One You're With

Once again, played, but still a page turner. I preferred this book over Heart of the Matter, but enjoyed them both.

Something Borrowed

We all know how this turns out, even if you have not read the book, chances are you've seen the movie. If not...what are you waiting for? I enjoyed both, but this is one of those where the movie actually does the book justice. Characters were on spot with actors and I enjoyed them both.
A must read and must see!

E. L. James & the 50 Shades Series

I am not even going to lie, as I have said before, trashy erotic novels are my personal faves. They are the ones I can't keep the book down, I read them in a day, and when I'm finished I feel depressed.

Fifty Shades of Grey

I always heard everyone say how much they loved Christian Grey, although he may be good looking, what a douche bag! The book however is one I couldn't put down.

Fifty Shades Darker

At this point you have fallen in love with Christian and are probably on the edge of your seat with what's going to happen next.

Fifty Shades Freed

The best book out of the entire series! I read in one sitting.

After the 50 shades trilogy I didn't think there was going to ever be another book as good, I was wrong. If you haven't heard of the Crossfire series, you need to go out and buy asap!

Sylvia Day & The Crossfire Series

Bared to You

Let's just say that as far as the "erotica" part goes, this book escalates over 50 Shades and anything I have ever read. Gideon Cross is amazing and you fall head over in heels in love with him!

Entwined in You

Once again, a nail biter, one sitting, page turner book.

Reflected in You

I read all three of these books in two days, this was by far better than the first two, although there was nothing wrong with the first two. I will tell you though, there are still two books yet to be published in this series, so if you are one to hate waiting (like me) you may want to wait until they are all published, because I will tell you, it's awful - Sylvia needs to get on the ball!

K. M. Golland

You may have never heard of this author, I know I haven't, but after I read the Crossfire Series I needed something else. K. M. Golland has published Temptation and Satisfaction (a series) and if you can't tell by their names, then yes, they are erotica love novels. I have read both of these books and loved them. I will tell you however, the books are not based in the US, so there are words that are read as English accent (example: arse instead of ass). I totally read them in an English accent! :)

Still on my reading list is:

Poker Face by Adriana Law
Honor Student by Teresa Mummet
Honor they Teacher by Teresa Mummet
Honor and Obey by Teresa Mummet
Down to You by M. Leighton

What have you read this Summer? Any good ideas?

Seriously...how pretty are these girls? Perfect hair, eyes, and smile! It's apparent I need longer hair, a new wardrobe and a shot of self esteem this morning - don't mess with me,
I haven't had my caffeine yet!

I have ate so many sunflower seeds the past month that my index finger and thumb are raw from the salt. It's disgustingly delicious!

*Disclaimer - do not eat sunflower seeds, they are extremely addictive!*

So the official start of Summer is today? Hah! Summer has been here for quite some time now, just cause it's typed on my desk calendar that today is the official start doesn't mean squat to me. Apparently the printers live in the Northern state, because we've been sweating for quite some time.
But, hey, I'm not complaining. I love sunkissed skin!

five.

It's Friday! Although I'll be dreaming of a vacation, this weekend we're playing it low key at the house. Movies, cuddles, and playing outside.

Hashtag Thursday

I have seen several SAHMs post, tweet, FB, about their $50 planners...don't get me a wrong, being a SAHM is one of the hardest jobs out there, I know, I have done it, but I didn't need a planner for it. When I wanted to jot something down, my $8 planner from Wal-Mart did the trick.

Do I love these planners? Hell yeah, but my cheap ass is not about to spend $50+ on one...

It's been doing nothing but rain here in the Lowcountry...it's supposed to be Summer, and trust me, with the humidity and heat index it sure is, but this rain is ridiculous! Summertime is supposed to be sunny, not muggy and rainy. As a true southerner though, we complain when it's cold, we complain when it's hot. There is only about 20 days out of the entire year that we're content with the weather.
#Ready4Fall

I'm ready for Christmas! I'm the girl who decorates, sings, wants to go ride and check out the Christmas lights each night. I start my Christmas shopping in August...it seriously can't get here quick enough.
#PatienceIsAVirtue

50 Shades of Grey has finally confirmed a director and hired her, for the movie. Casting can now begin and they can get the show on the road.
#ItsAboutTime #CantWait

Speaking of 50 Shades, so many people are on board for Ian Somerhalder, who is attractive I will not lie, and his age suits the role. Others are for Matt Bomer, who is extremely sexy, once again, but he is gay. I have nothing against being gay, but Christian Grey is far from that, and it would always be in the back of my mind that the man acting the role is gay, to me it just wouldn't do the movie justice.
I'm all for Colin Egglesfield - he is Christian Grey in the flesh!

I need to win the lottery, or either Michael Kors, Tory Burch, and Christian Louboutin need to come out with a line for poor girls...come on designers, get on board the broke train.

L.O.V.E

Today I am linking up with April to "Spill about My Love" - maybe this will give you some sort of a background on me and the hubs and the not-so-many guys before him...

one. Describe your dating life prior to finding your husband.

Sweet T (hubby's nickname) and I met when I was 15, almost 16. At the time I was dating this guy, let's call him Douche Bag or DB. (Wow, it wasn't until then that I realized those letters/initials work perfect!) Anyways...my sister knew Sweet T's family and had wanted me to meet him for quite some time, but I was head over heels in love with DB, or so I though, although he treated me with complete disrespect and couldn't have cared less about me. One day DB pissed me off so badly that I finally told my sister yes, just set it up, at least I'll make a new friend. Needless to say he came over to meet me and the rest is history. Later that night I called DB and told him I was done. Even if Sweet T and I hadn't of worked out, I knew I deserved better, but I am so glad we did!

two. Describe your husband in one word, how would he describe you in one word?

Patient! He is the most patient person I've ever been with. Patience is not only a virtue, but a very strong character trait and I love that about him.

Here is his answer:

three. You had a really embarrassing, silly fight, what was it about?

I feel most of our arguments are nothing but silly, there are times when I will laugh out loud during them, which will further piss him off, just because they are so funny! Recently I've read the Crossfire Series by Sylvia Day, I'm now re-reading 50 Shades of Grey by E. L. James (what can I say I love trashy erotic love stories). I told the hubs that I wish he was more attentive like Christian and Gideon, I guess he thought attentive was watching the Miami Heat play...thus we snapped at each other.
#GottaLoveMarriage

four. In three sentences, and only three, describe where you hope to be in five years.

Debt free. In our dream home. Happy, healthy and still in love.

five. Tell us something about your husband that we wouldn't know by reading your blog.

He's been shot in the head (with a BB gun). He hates green peas. His name is extremely unique, but I'm still not sharing :)  He was a city boy when I met him. Drove fast cars, shopped in the mall, never watched the Gamecocks play, and hunting? Hah, please! This has changed, it had to if there was ever a chance for my dad to like him. He now hunts, his past three vehicles have been trucks, and doesn't miss a Carolina game. He's definitely got some "country boy charm".

six. What's one thing you never thought you would do in front of your husband, but you did.

We have been together for 11 years, so there's not much that the two of us haven't seen or done without a care, however I still cannot go #2 in front of him, although he has no issues doing so.

For me, I would probably have to say crazy hair! Y'all my hair is awful if I don't straighten it. I mean I'm seriously going to have to muster up some balls and just post a picture on here one day, it's that bad. Frizzy, kinky, unruly to say the least. I've always been the one to have kept hair. I may not have a lick of makeup on but I assure you my hair will be done, well I never wanted him to see me with my ugly hair, puhlease...I could care less now. He's seen my hair as if I had just pulled my finger from an electrical socket. He knows what he has at home, he also has no problem telling me to "go do something with your hair girl!".
