To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Thursday Ramblings

Do you ever have such a random post that you don't even know what to title it?
Yep...that's me today. I warn you, this post is going to be every where!

First off, there is only 14 days until Destin. Fourteen! I am so excited, but also worried at the same time. I was wanting some fun in the warm sun and unfortunately the weather there, has been much like the weather here in the Lowcountry...freezing balls!

This will not do! Destin is your typical beach town. What I mean is, any and every thing to do, is on the beach! If the weather isn't "beach weather" what in the hell am I supposed to do?
The hubs and I keep talking about it, and if mother nature wants to keep playing her chilly games with us, we may have to take a detour and vacay some where else...so fingers crossed for us that it warms up! I need minimum 78 degrees! I'm thinking Sangria's, not Starbucks. This hand of mine needs a cold, fruity beverage, not a warm mug!

If you've been on Facebook lately, and chances are you have, then you've probably seen many of your friends post some of these, or changed these as their profile picture.

or

If you're not sure what this means, and I didn't at first either, the red means you support gay marriage, the black is obviously the opposite. Homosexual people are equal (thus the equal sign) to heterosexual people (marriage equality). Here is my stance on this. I am a Christian. I belive every word the Bible says from beginning to end. I believe in God. I believe that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins, so that we may live an eternal life in Heaven. Not everyone believes the Bible, or in Jesus or God...that's their loss! As a Christian, I'm not saying I'm perfect, because I am far from it! I fail Him daily! Thank God, literally, for sending his Son to forgive me of my daily sins.

With that being said, I DO NOT believe that people should be treated any differently, just because of the choices they have made. If you watched the RHOBV reunion this past week. You watched Yolanda tell Andy Cohen (who is gay) that it's her daughters choice on her sexuality. Andy, completely snapped back saying that it's not a choice. I disagree, it is a choice. I'm heterosexual. I am married to a man, and that's my choice. I love Andy, his gayness and all! I'd love to have a gay man friend! Seriously! Could you imagine the shopping we could do! I believe that marriage is meant for one man and one woman, but I also believe that people should not be treated any differently by society because of who they are or who they want to be with. I think it's sick that people kill over this! I know several gay people and 99% of the time they are funner to be around!

Yesterday, I caught up with an old friend. We probably spent 10 minutes chatting on Facebook. We were highschool friends. It is so nice to see how far we both have come since then. The choices we've made, our careers, our families. It's amazing that it's been 9 years and that we are both married, both have children, and both have careers. She is a teacher, a mother of two precious little boys, and married a jarhead...her words, not mine :)

She had me smiling yesterday because as southern as she is, she married a yankee!
Let me rephrase that, a damn yankee. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's someone who is a yankee, but moved to the south. She said that he loves all things Southern, including fried chicken, every thing but boiled peanuts...hey, he can't be perfect!

It's funny! To see where 9 years will take you. I couldn't imagine my life any differently! I always wanted to go off to college somewhere. Had I done that I may never had married the hubs. We may never have had the Princess...and that just wouldn't be any fun at all! Looking back on highschool, it wasn't the funnest time at all. Girls are mean and cruel, but Kim, my old HS friend, reminded me yesterday, that it doesn't matter where we go in life, it's where we are now that matters!

Kim, this post is for you! Thank you for reminding me that HS was a joke! All that matters is where we are now! Forget the BS, and focus on the future! Girls night soon?

I'm off tomorrow for Good Friday, yay!
I'm taking a long weekend break from blogging to focus on Easter. To be with my friends and family, and to focus on what Easter is truly about, the resurrection of Jesus!

Of course we will have egg hunts, Easter baskets, and egg toss'! It's my second favorite Holiday!

I wish you and yours a very Happy and Blessed Easter Holiday!

Ugh...Mean Girls!

Pinned Image

I have read several posts about Blissdom. Granted I recently started Life in the Lowcountry
I now know that if ever given the opportunity to go, I would never want to take it. I can honestly say I've read about ten posts on Blissdom, and 9 out of 10 say the same thing, let me sum it up for you...women are bitches! Most of the blogs I read said that they would walk up to a fellow blogger, who they have been a fan of for some time, and said blogger would act like her "stank" don't "stink".

Um...ain't nobody got time for that!

I've been on both sides of the spectrum. I've been the one that takes the brunt of the "meanness" and I've also been the girl who was mean. The reason I was mean, was because of little ole jealousy! Difference is I have the balls to admit it! My sister just got her very own tanning bed. At her house. For free. I was a jealous bitch...but I took a breath, calmed down, and realized, "hey, I can now tan for free!" If women treat other women bad, 99% of the time it's because their jealous of something the other woman has. Money, looks, the new Tory Burch Mint Satchel that I have been eyeing...let's face it. I cannot stand two faced people. That is probably my biggest pet peeve. Someone who treats you one way in public, and at Church on Sunday they want to be your best friend. Let me tell you something sweetheart, Jesus sees how you treat others Monday - Saturday too! BE WHO YOU ARE!
Don't try to be someone that you're not.

My friends know one thing of me. I DO NOT hold my tongue. I'm not the type of person to talk badly about someone behind there back. Yes, I gossip, but it's usually about someone I don't know or rarely talk to. I'm talking about the girls who have five BFFs and when one walks away to go to the bathroom, she starts her bad mouthing...nope! Not me! A friend is a friend. If you have an issue with them, tell them to their face. In the long run they will either respect you for it and you will become closer, or they'll get pissed at you, in which case you shouldn't have them as a friend anyways. If you can't be honest with your friends, who can you be honest with?

My friends know this of me. If I have an issue with them, I bring it to the source. I don't tip toe around the subject, I get straight to the point. I don't have time for caddiness, nor do I want to be associated with someone who is caddy. What you see on this blog is me, take it or leave it!

Amen! I too need to be thankful for my blessings, and I need to work on my jealousy issues. I will put my big girl panties on and admit that I get jealous. I was jealous of my sisters tanning bed, but realized the benefits of her having one, I get in it for free! I get jealous of people who have new cars, but realize they also have a new car payment. I may get jealous of people who get to go out and do whatever they want, whenever they want, but then I realize I'm at home, taking care of the most beautiful blessing that has ever been given to me, my sweet wonderful husband and beautiful daughter, who are all healthy and happy, and that my friends is enough for me!

So what!

So What Wednesday

So what if my eyes are puffy today. I watched P.S. I Love You last night, and if you've never seen the movie, you won't just cry once or twice throughout it, you'll cry about twenty different times.

So what, if after my emotional movie watching, I clinged to my husband tightly and couldn't imagine my life without him, all the while my tears are running down his back and
he's laughing hysterically at my meltdown.
People when I get to crying, there is no stopping me!

So what if I am now addicted to Subway's breakfast. I have never tried it, ever! Until yesterday morning. I was starved and it's right next to moi workplace, breakfast B.M.T. with all the fixings...delish! I will now eat my weight in them daily!

So what if I'm counting down the days til Destin! Sixteen BTW! I just hope and pray all goes well, as in no sicknesses, and no freezing temps. It's a beach town and I plan to be in flip-flops, shorts, and tees the entire time, not sweaters and jeans!

So what if I am just as excited about Easter as I am about Christmas. Hubs and I splurge and still make each other Easter baskets. I can't wait!

My fave linkup, ever! It's a chance to be completely honest with no judgement all our blog friends!
Plus Jake and Holly give away a $10 gift card to the funniest answers!

1 - If calories didn't count I would eat...honey boo boo child...calories do count, and I don't give a damn! I still eat what I want. YOLO! Thank goodness I have a high metabolism, when that starts to slow down I'm screwed!

2 - On my prom night...

...oh my lawd! It was a 50s themed, if you couldn't tell...SO original! What the heck was I thinking with this dress?! You see that very handsome date...that is the hubs now...he must have been a really good dancer :) Let's not mention my pasty white self, and my pale pink dress to match. Were there not tanning beds back then?

3 - When I go to the store I always buy something I don't need, and never buy what I need! Case in point yesterday. Needed hamburger meat, walked in, got the April issue of Food Network magazine and a jar of pickles. Last night for dinner, pickles and scamming food I wish I could make.

4 - Family functions typically look like this...

FYI - none of us look like this anymore! Fashion back in the 2000s wasn't what it is today...check out mom with a shirt on a shirt. Me (up front) with my HUGE floppy bunny ears...it wasn't Easter people, it was Christmas. Who the heck knows what my dad and sister Angela (in the green) were looking at!

Oh my goodness....I didn't realize how "white trash" we were until posting these pics!

5 - I think my blog readers...my two blog readers I do have are fabulous! hah! I just started this little ole blog and am loving every minute of it. It's definitely a vent releaser and I love the comraderie between other bloggies.

6 - I'd much rather be a REAL HOUSEWIFE. I could so be best friends with Lisa Vanderpump! It's definitely a goal of mine!

7 - I have an obsession with Jake Owen...enough said!

(Disclaimer: Hubs SUCKS at taking pics)

He's gorgeous!

8 - My work friends. I cross out the (s) because it's single, as in one, as in my boss. It's literally just he and I in the office and I love it that way! He's easy going, laid back, and we laugh, hysterically, all the time! Love him!

9 - When I created my facebook account I put every picture I ever took on it, as you can see from the pics above that I copy and pasted here on moi blog! What the hell was I thinking? It's pointless to go back and delete them off my page, people have already seen what is my crazy family and how we act a fool when we're together!

10 - My least favorite word is fart...just typing it gave me the chills! People don't fart, they poot or pass gas. Got to keep it classy sometimes.

11 - I really don't remember being born. I mean bright lights and my very first spanking. I don't remember it. Seriously, I have an elephants memory! I rarely forget some thing. I remember what I wore when the hubs and I first met, first date...for real!

12 - Justin Bieber ain't got nothing on Jake Owen. No, really, he doesn't. I've heard maybe one of his songs...gasp!

Edge of the Water (Weekend Recap)

This weekend was fantastic!
I had a great time with the family and date night with the hubs!

Friday night my mother-in-law watched Princess for us, and we went and had dinner at my all time favorite restaturant, Olive Garden! I have tried true authentic Italian food, and nothing compares to Olive Garden. Period.

After dinner we went and watched Zack Stiltner and the Marshall Dillon Band. My brother-in-law is the lead guitarist and this band is absolutely fabulous. They have been around for.ev.er and all us locals just love them. They have gigs every single weekend, and I mean, every single Friday and Saturday night, they are always booked! Any time we get a date night, it's usually spent watching them. They play a mix of new and old country, as well as some rock.
They always play Jake Owen songs for me!

Saturday we spent all day in Savannah! We literally just window shopped all day, and of course we let the Princess ride the carousel, she loves it! I bought her a pair of kid aviators and she looked adorbs all day long rocking them!

Sunday was the best! We went grocery shopping, and before that we just rode around. We came across this landing, and it was absolutely beautiful. Most of the time, in the Lowcountry anyways, you just have a dock with water around it, but at this landing, it had it's own little beach. We had beautiful 78 degree weather yesterday so we got out and walked around.

love her face in this pic!

Believe it or not, the princess took this pic of us! She's amazing!

It's now 48 degrees here! Ugh...I'm so ready for Destin!

Gamecock Country

Today is my first day back to work in two days, and it's Friday at the same time, woot woot!
I was in Columbia (aka - Gamecock country!) for training for my new position. It was a blast.
Very little training, more fun. I got to meet every one up there, and eat out for free, so yeah, it was awesome, plus I bought some new purchases I'll share later, right now I just want to share some pics!

The drive up was gorgeous! All the dogwood trees on I26 were in full bloom!

I was speeding driving so the pic isn't the best quality, but you can see how pretty the drive up was!

My sweet hubby surprised me by coming up after I got out of training for the day and took me out to dinner at Ruths Chris. We have never been and obviously heard nothing but great things about the steak there. We also heard how expensive it was, but wanted to scratch it off our bucket list.

We both ordered steaks, and scallops as an appetizer. The scallops and salad were amazing. The steak was not worth the money we paid for it though!

I was so ready to come back home. To sleep in my own bed and snuggle with my family, plus, who wouldn't want to come back to this face!?

Have a great weekend!

Pinterest is a B****

Yes, you read that right! I LOVE hate Pinterest.
Like everyone else, there are so many things that I want that I simply cannot afford or talk myself into buying. The clothes, the food, the home decor, the hair, I could go on but will stop myself now and share some of my Pinterest finds instead.

I love this casual yet chic look. I am not a drab dresser! Don't get me wrong I think black, cream, gray and neutral is the way to go, especially for a business casual look, but personally I'm all about bright colors, and this pop of orange would be the perfect thing to wear on casual Friday!

The link I attached below the picture takes you to a blog where you can get the look, for less!

I'm loving arm candy right now! I love matching and mis-matching bracelets, bangles, and watches to decorate your wrist. Here are some of my faves!

Here are the bracelets I paired today:

I'm wearing a David Yurman knock off, a nautical bracelet I purchased last year, and another Yurman knock off, with a Gamecock charm bracelet my in-laws bought for me.
I always have to represent my Gamecocks! :)
BTW - I wore the knock off Yurman to dinner one night and had a lady compliment me on my bracelet, she had no clue it only cost me $10, compared to $450!

Speaking of jewelry here is something else I saw on Pinterest...how cute is this
mother/daughter necklace!

I am IN LOVE with this set! I can imagine Princess with the little heart around her neck!
This may be on my Mother's Day list!

I got married five years ago. Pinterest wasn't around back then...BUMMER!

Like this shirt to wear the day of, or to your bachelorette party!

I paid $25 for a bride T-Shirt to wear after our ceremony. Had I even thought of this I would have done it! This girl turned a $5 T-Shirt into this! How cute!

Mason Jars are a Southern staple! You drink out of them, collect things in them (i.e. Seashells), or use them for decorations! Our ceremony started at 2pm and our reception ran into the evening. This would have been amazing to have at our reception!
