To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Elf on the Shelf 2014

This week has been a long one to say the least.
Cadence started feeling ill on Sunday and is still sick today. We've had two doctors visits and they said it's just a virus that has to run it's course. Poor thing! I hate seeing my baby girl sick.

Olly, our Elf on the Shelf has returned and here is what he's been up to so far!

Day one he arrived with a welcome note along with a lot of care bears and a care bear DVD which she just loves.

He also noted that Cadence could touch him just this once so he could see himself on the TV during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

Day two he had some Thanksgiving leftovers!

On day three he traveled to mema's house where Cadence was staying and came in on a reindeer!

Cadence painted a picture that day and on day four he painted the same thing as she did.

On day five he was back home with us and brought in twenty four books for Cadence. One book to read each night to countdown the days until Christmas. The first book was about a girl who lost her name, and her name is Cadence :)

On day six Olly was wearing overalls and even brought Cadence a pair, in pink of course, so she could help Grandaddy out on the farm.

On day seven he brought Rosie, our chihuahua,
a stocking and hung it on the mantle for us.

This morning he brought us a gingerbread barn kit to decorate this afternoon.

Cadence is finally starting to feel better. Her cough is subsiding and her fever is now low grade. Her eyes aren't as watery and her appetite is coming back - praise the Lord! We may go to the Christmas parade tonight and watch from inside the car and then come home and decorate our gingerbread barn that Olly brought us!
