To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

I'm Back!!! Vacation Recap (Day 1 & Day 2)

Wow - that vacation went by so quick! Seven wonderful, magical days in Florida and before we knew it, it was back to South Carolina for us.

To say we had a blast is a major understatement! We had the most magical time and are so happy that we made such wonderful memories as a family! Since we did so much I'm breaking down our vacation into separate posts. For today I'll be recapping days 1 and 2 for your reading pleasure...

Day One

On Friday afternoon once we got off work and Cadence got out of school we headed half way down to Orlando by stopping in Jacksonville to visit my aunt. We go about every two months seeing each other as we are really close and it was due time I spent some time with her. We sat on her balcony and caught up, played cards, ordered a pizza and just enjoyed each others company.

Day Two

We stayed the night at her home, then got up early on Saturday morning to head to Disney. We grabbed a Starbucks for the drive, Cadence enjoys their Hot Chocolate!

Today was our first day in Disney. We knew we were going to meet Disney Junior characters in Hollywood Studios, particularly Sophia the 1st (Cadence's favorite) so she donned her Sophia shirt, socks and shoes, along with a matching hair bow.

The first thing we did when we got to Hollywood Studios was ride the Great Movie Ride. I'm a huge Gone With the Wind fan and they had Scarlett O'Haras dress on display - so beautiful and what a tiny waist!

Afterwards we headed to watch the Muppets in 3D - it was hilarious!

Once we got out of the theater we caught Anna & Elsa's coronation parade!

After we watched the parade we went to lunch at Hollywood & Vine where we met Sophia the 1st, Doc McStuffins, Handy Manny & Jake (the neverland pirate). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun. The characters were great!

Sophia loved her entire outfit, especially her shoes.

Once we ate lunch and met all the characters at Hollywood & Vine we headed off to ride Toy Story Mania and meet some characters.

The great thing about Disney is that even while waiting in line, they have so much stuff for you to see and do. Whether it be the decor or a picture spot for you to take pictures. I've said it before and I'll say it again, nobody does it like Disney does it!

After we met Woody, Buzz, Green Army Man, Mr. Incredible, Frozone, Minnie, Vanellope and Ralph we were ready to relax, so we headed to check into our room.

We chose Coronado Springs Resort. This is Disney's Moderate level which is right in between the
in-expensive rooms and the expensive rooms.

Last year we stayed at Caribbean Beach and weren't too thrilled, but Coronado Springs was amazing! It's our new favorite and we already said we would stay there next time, that's how much we loved it!

The rooms were beautiful as were the grounds, pool, everything about it!

Once we walked into our room we realized that Tinker Bell had left a lot of prizes for Cadence!

Anna, Elsa, puzzles, crayons, coloring books, a cupcake, candies, tons of balloons and more! Cadence loved every single thing that Tinker Bell left!

After we got all checked in, unpacked our bags and gave our feet a good rest, we headed off to Magic Kingdom. It was open until 1:30am if you were staying on site as a Disney guest, so we took full advantage of it. This is why I will never go to Disney without the Park Hopper option. It allows you to go to any park you want, as many times as you want without question. If we wouldn't have purchased it, we wouldn't have been allowed to enter Magic Kingdom until a different day.

If you don't know, Magic Kingdom is Disney's signature park. It's my family's most favorite and it's pure magical when you walk in. As soon as we saw that castle down Main Street USA it brought tears to my eyes.

It was decorated beautifully for Fall and for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (more to come on that later!).

We looked all around Magic Kingdom. Taking in the sights and the smells of Fall that were coming from the different shops and bakeries. We used one of our quick services for dinner at a seafood joint and their fried shrimp was delicious.

We then went and rode my most favorite ride, Splash Mountain. Turns out Cadence thoroughly enjoyed it. At first she was scared but we rode it 3x after that. Her favorite too :)

At around 8:30 we headed back to our room for the night. We were all ready to get some sleep. Once we got back to our room Tinker Bell had left another gift, pajamas for Cadence which she ended up leaving every night after too :)

If you can financially afford to do this for your children I highly suggest it. Cadence looked forward to seeing what new PJs Tinker Bell left her every day. Most of these PJs didn't cost me over $6 from Walmart! So worth the money!

Our first day was so much fun we couldn't wait until the next.

Come back tomorrow to hear all about Day 3 - Epcot Day!
