To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Sometimes You Just Need A Break

If you've been reading my blog as of recent you know our Disney trip is planned, what I have failed to mention is that it is several months away. Planning a vacation out is a good thing because you can plan it well, but it also leaves you feening for a getaway!

With the cooler lowcountry weather it has me missing mojito's, maxi dresses, white sandy beaches, crabbing, fishing, short shorts and tan skin. Needless to say a weekend away has been on my mind ever since.

Some of the best weekends we have had are the ones that we have stayed close to home. Like our weekend getaway in Savannah when we stayed at the Westin Harbor overlooking the Savannah River and Riverstreet.

Another local place I have always wanted to stay is the Mansion in Forsyth Park. The Mansion is an autograph collection hotel rated at 4.5 stars. It's the top of it's class in Savannah. It's located in the historic district at Forsyth Park and Calhoun Square. It only has 126 rooms and it's views and locale are out of this world! They also have one of the most amazing restaurants in Savannah, 700 Drayton.

Hubby, if you are reading this, an important date is coming up! :)

It's 5:00 somewhere...
