To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Lots of new(s)

Thoughts on the new blog design?

For a while I have wanted a more clean, chic design. Something simple with a little bit of southern flair. I've also updated my pages so make sure you take a look around and see all the new changes I made. I am giving myself a pat on the back because dealing with html, coding, placement is for the birds, but it's finally finished after days of working on it. #woohoo

I'm also going to be starting a series called "If You're Ever". A while back I attempted at starting a secondary blog for food, travel and architectural design as I love all three, however I committed myself to one post and haven't touched it since. Sometimes it's time consuming enough to post to this blog let alone a second, so I got the idea of just doing it as a series.

I've always loved architectural places. Whether it's cobblestone streets in Savannah, the multi-colored homes of Rainbow Row in Charleston or large steeples that grace the magnificent churches around the lowcountry. I've been a foodie ever since I can remember and am always up for trying something new or travelling to a different place, so why not share it with you...

If you're wondering about the name, "If You're Ever", well let me explain. If you're ever in Savannah and find yourself on Riverstreet be sure to eat at Dockside restaurant even if dessert only. They have these amazing fried strawberries dipped in a waffle batter and are served warm with cinnamon and whipped cream.

If you're ever in Beaufort, South Carolina the waterfront is a must see. It's a beautiful setting adorned with boats and small shops filled with treasures.

Get where I'm going with it?

The installments will not be on set days, just when I have a place to share with you...I can't wait to start!

Onto today's post.

If you follow me on Instagram, then you saw a picture I posted of my new fur lined booties.

I purchased them a while back of Zulily and although wary of the fit (because I am often one size in a certain brand and a different size in another) am so pleased that I purchased them. They are warm, cozy and I love how versatile they can be.

They are perfect paired with skinny jeans and a loose fitting top (like above). But they would also go great with leggings. They are perfect for the area I live in being farm, dirty and muddy terrain...a great zulily purchase to say the least!
