To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Sometimes when us bloggers have absolutely nothing to blog about we have to pull an idea out of our ass, am I right? A lot of times I will turn to FaceBook articles, Pinterest, or fellow blogs for inspiration but today I decided to share with you my favorites...let's get started!

Reading books for me comes in waves, if you will. I go a month or two and do nothing but read. I'll go to my local library or download a new book onto my kindle. I am the type of person who gets lost in the book if it's interesting and will read it from cover to cover. My favorites are the Romance/Sex novels, like the Crossfire series or of course 50 Shades of Grey. I also love anything by Emily Giffin. Then I'll go 6+ months without reading anything...with summer approaching though, I'm in the mood to get lost in a good book!

I plan on reading The Secret Sex Life of a Single Mom. They made a Lifetime movie out of it, so I'm going to read the book before the movie airs, just to see if it's worth watching. Have you read it, thoughts?

Within the past year I have started dabbling into higher end makeup. Let's face it, I'm not one who can go out weekly, or even monthly, and purchase $100 worth of MAC products, which will get you about two items, compared to about 15 items at the drugstore, if not more!

I am going to put it simply, there is a dupe for every high end product out there, it's just a matter of finding it. The best drugstore foundation in my opinion, and my current favorite, is Loreal's True Match Lumi Foundation. It provides a luminous finish and doesn't give too much shine which we all need to avoid. I have MACs foundation, and this provides just as much coverage. The only difference is MACs foundation will last all day, and Loreals will only last about 5-6 hours, but a great primer can fix that issue.

I have a major dark circle issue that is hereditary (thanks dad!) So I require two products for my under eye area. To conceal any darkness under my eye I use Maybelline's Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting concealer.

This is the best drug store concealer that I have found and it truly gives me full under eye coverage, and trust me my dark circles are awful!

I personally love a light under eye area. It highlights anyone's face to add a touch of brightness in that spot. Although it's actually used as a concealer, I prefer to use it as a highlighter and that's also by Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser.

I don't just use this under my eyes, but I also apply this to my temples and under my chin to achieve a flawless highlighted look. I don't even want to go out and try to find a high end version because this works wonders!

While we are on the subject of Maybelline, several beauty guru's raved about their Fit Me Concealer, so naturally I had to try. I have to say I'm a little bummed out. It creased really bad for me, and I had to apply three coats to achieve full under eye coverage, so I'm going to stick with their Dream Lumi Touch - if you're looking for a good concealer, go and get this immediately - you won't regret it!

The last makeup product I'm going to discuss for today (because otherwise we would be here until dark reading this blog post if I told you about all of my fave products) is mascara - the holy grail of the makeup world! If ever I feel like touching up, I don't resort to pressed powder or a lip touch up, I go straight for mascara! It immediately draws attention to your face and gives your eyes that pop you were looking for!

My two favorites right now that I alternate with each day are both by Loreal.

First is their Voluminous False Fiber Lashes...

I love both of these equally. They last all day and I have to use makeup remover (or warm water and soap) to get it off each night. They extend my lashes wonderfully without clumping, and separates each strand to give you that "falsy" look. I honestly couldn't pick my favorite between these two!

Most everyone in blogland talks about their favorite snacks and I realized this morning that I never have. I have three go to snacks. The first are Cheez-Its. I loved those little baked crackers with a glass of ice cold pepsi.

My second is sliced apples in cinnamon sugar - #delish!

Lastly are fresh baked blueberry muffins. My favorite are Jiffy's (the cheap $0.50 box). You just can't beat the deliciousness of a fresh baked warm muffin!

My favorite shoes are my heels. I love wearing my skinny jeans with a pair of nude pumps and a white tank top. It's the best date night outfit invented. I'm a shorty...topped out at 5 foot 5 inches, so heels give me that boost I want. I love my black stillettos, they are a wardrobe staple that every girl needs to own, but my current favorite is definitely my nude pumps!

My favorite thing to do in the summer is dependent upon the time of day. If it's during the day, the pool is the best. You don't have crowds, it's just you and your family. You don't have to worry about sharks or not being able to see the water, it's just refreshing to swim with the ones you love and enjoy the time spent together having fun.

At night, after dinner is cooked and the house is clean, right at twilight before the sky gets dark, I love riding up town to grab an ice cream cone, and eating it on the way home laughing with Tarl and Cadence. We do this at least twice a week during the warmer months and it's my most favorite thing!

What are your favorites?
(Emily - I just gave you a blog post idea! :) )
