To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

Boo at the Zoo | Family Pictures | Olaf??

This Saturday we had a great time at Riverbanks Boo at the Zoo.
This is our first time going to BATZ and it was so much fun.
Although Cadence is being something entirely different for Halloween, she wanted to be Anna from Frozen for BATZ. She has just about every princess dress you can imagine, so I was just happy to see her get some use out of it more than just wearing it around the house.

Of course I'm partial, but what a cute little Anna she was.

A Barbie pink and java chip frap from Starbies before the zoo!

Cadence adores taking pictures, especially with my Nikon.
She told us to get together.

...and then she told us to kiss :)

I love these two sillies.

They had a foam zone.

A hay maze.

A lot of animals were out and still awake which was great!

S'mores!

It was a ton of fun and for sure a new tradition for us.

They also have what they call "Lights Before Christmas" which we have talked about doing.
Speaking of Christmas I may or may not have listened to this, this morning.

Don't judge me!

We got a lot of bike riding in this weekend.
Love that smile!

We also had our family pictures taken. Here are a couple sneak peeks with the photographers permission to share them. Obviously the watermark will be removed when we receive the actual pictures but I couldn't wait to share.

The entire month of October has been a huge project in Cadence's class.
Each student had to choose their favorite book, a character from that book, write about the character, draw an illustration of the character and then with assistance from family, make the character out of a pumpkin.

Cadence chose Olaf.

Other than the spray painting of the pumpkins and the hot glue she did a majority of it. She helped mold his nose, chose the sticks for his arms. He did have stick hair but it broke off this morning during commute.

She painted his buttons and helped with his two little legs. She decorated the snowflake board and his face. So proud!

We have a lot planned this week leading up to Halloween. Can't wait!
