To describe our growing up in the lowcountry of South Carolina, I would have to take you to the marsh on a spring day, flush the great blue heron from its silent occupation, scatter marsh hens as we sink to our knees in mud, open an oyster with a pocketknife and feed it to you from the shell and say, 'There. That taste. That's the taste of my childhood.' - Pat Conroy

rain rain, go away

I want to first start out this post asking everyone to pray for each person affected by this torrential rain and flooding all throughout the state of SC. Thankfully our part of SC isn't flooding, we're just drenched, extremely drenched, but nonetheless, no flooding which is a wonderful blessing.

It rained so hard that even our towns festival got cancelled. They still had a few vendors setup (those vendors that wanted to brave the weather anyways) but big things like the parade, contests, and all the bands were cancelled. It was a bummer, especially since Cadence was looking forward to riding in the golf cart and throwing out candy, but what can you do?

Well, once we realized the parade had been cancelled, we were already up town getting ready for it, so on the way home, we rolled down the window and let her throw a few handfuls of candy.
This made her smile :)

With all the rain, our weekend was spent entirely inside, snuggling and watching movies all weekend long. Cadence and I watched tons of Halloween things on both the travel channel and the food network while Tarl was watching the game.

Gamecocks lost, again. Terrible season for us but I'm no fairweather fan. I'll always be a Gamecock.
I just hope we can rise again after this season cause goodness y'all it's been a bad one!

Once the game was off and Tarl got done pouting, we watched Elf.
I know it's Halloween and all, but when Elf is on, we watch it. Love that movie!

This weekend, weather permitting, we plan on keeping our annual family tradition of going to the pumpkin patch. Afterwards a Church in town is hosting a fall carnival.

Next weekend Cadence has an event at her school, the weekend after we plan on attending Riverbanks Zoo, Boo at the Zoo, and then the last weekend is of course, Halloween.

October is busy to say the least, but I love it.

I cannot wait to enjoy all of our fall festivities that we have planned.

This weekend the day finally arrives where I get to make our Disney dining reservations.

A post to come on that later this week.

That's all for today lovies...xo
